Best College Reviews, a journal that provides objective rankings for college programs via its analysis of publicly available data, recently published a list of its top 15 online environmental engineering programs. The University of California, Riverside online Master of Science in Environmental Engineering program ranked 11th on the list.

Citing career outcomes and flexibility for students, the BCR ranking serves as further proof of the value of an online graduate degree at UCR.

The ranking process

BCR’s data sources typically include the National Center for Education Statistics, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. Department Education and other credible information. For this ranking, the journal focused on program tuition, customization options and U.S. News & World Report’s rankings for top online schools for master’s engineering programs to evaluate 27 accredited offerings. The final dimension applied to what BCR called a “wow” factor.

How UCR’s MSEE program stood out

Affordability was a defining factor for UCR’s position on the list. In fact, UCR even surpassed University of Southern California, with UCR’s lower in-state tuition breaking the tie for the 11th spot.

Additionally, BCR highlighted several program features as benefits. UCR’s graduate MSEE degree caters to students who work full time with a 100 percent online curriculum that they can complete in a little more than 12 months. The ranking also pointed to graduate employment outcomes, with alumni finding positions in water chemistry and treatment-related careers and having the functional knowledge to also seek roles in air quality and consulting.

UCR’s MSEE program can advance your career

UCR and its engineering offerings are no strangers to praise. U.S. News ranked the university in the top 33 percent of engineering schools in the country, and Leiden Ranking said UCR is 10th in the world for engineering and natural sciences.

Focusing on practical skills, the online MSEE program is composed of 16 core engineering courses and 16 credits devoted to the specialization. Plus, four capstone courses give you experiential knowledge without the need for an on-campus residency.

Industry-leading faculty provide insights on topics such as water chemistry, modern water treatment systems, separation processes and more. With their guidance, you, too, can aspire to hydrologist, waste process engineer and other careers.
